We might sound like a broken record here, but if your business is not playing in the social media space you are missing a massive opportunity to grow; an opportunity that is literally at your fingertips and is cost effective. The wonderful and powerful thing about digital marketing is that you can reach anyone from anywhere in the world who might want to engage with your brand. Previously this was something only those with massive marketing budgets, TV ad campaigns and super bowl ads could achieve. There are so many wonderful ways that you can increase brand presence online and get your product or service noticed. Here are our top five things to consider: Use the right platforms and know why you are there Are you playing in the social media game for social selling, to build an online community, or for content marketing and brand exposure? Whatever the reason, make sure you know why you are there. Pick the right platforms that are going to allow you to engage with your current and potential target audience. So, in other words learn where your people are; the people who buy your product. Where do they hang out? Is it Instagram/ Snap Chat or Facebook? Do some research into what accounts are right for you. Go with the ones that will allow you to progress your business goals, grow your brand and sell your products. Branding Don’t overlook visual branding as a key aspect of digital marketing, and the branding copy (written word) of your business. Do you have an easy to read or identifiable logo? And if so, is there a consistent message and theme across your platforms? Make sure your content looks and sounds consistent (of course it can be different from platform to platform), and make sure that each of your social platforms looks like you. You should be able to recognise your business from a mile away. Think of brands like Coca Cola and how they are easily identifiable in terms of colour, copy and consistency. Choose a colour palette and be consistent with it. Try and use consistent colours through your photos, text and movies. If you are using filters on apps such as Instagram, filter carefully making sure that all your photos are consistent in quality and colour, and try to only use one or two filters if you use any. Keep it consistent Nothing is going to kill your dreams of social success faster than inconsistent posting. Think of your social media like ordering a coffee at your local coffee shop. If you went there four mornings out of five and ordered the same takeaway coffee, only to leave with a different strength, milk and consistency each time, you’d be likely to change coffee shops. This can be the same with social media. Content is king but consistency in posting and engagement wins the day. And engage, engage, engage with your audience… but that’s for another blog post. Who are you Develop a voice that is unique to you, that sounds like your brand and speaks to who you are. Above all, be authentic. Our rule of thumb is if you read it out loud and it sounds off brand or weird, change it. The more authentic you are with your brand online the more people will engage with it. Drive traffic to your website One of the most powerful tools in social media is driving traffic to your website. Whether that be to buy your product, to read an engaging and useful blog targeted to your audience, or to book an event, aim to utilise the power of social in driving traffic to your webpage. Give people a way to find out more about your brand, to sign up to your mailing list or wine club, or to read your story. Whatever it is for you, give them value. This will help push your SEO higher on your webpage, and will add value for your audience. These are just some of our tips to help you be a social media pro.
