Another end of financial year is upon us, and although it’s not usually a topic business owners like to think about, particularly due to the deadlines, gathering of receipts, and reconciling accounts, it is a good chance to take stock and look back at the year that you’ve had.
Running your own business is about getting to live the life you want, run the business the way you choose and to do things differently. But it also needs to be profitable to keep you and your wonderful employees in a job, and your customers and clients happy.
End of financial year is a wonderful chance for business owners to reflect on their business; to look at what is working, what is not working, and where the time and energy should be focused into the future. This is a powerful tool for driving your business forward and hopefully reinvigorating yourself in the process.
We are all busy in our businesses, focusing on the day to day of looking after our people, our customers, and keeping things running smoothly. But, I am a big believer that we need to step back from time to time and look at where we are going, and just how far we’ve come.
So, this week I urge you to sit down and have a look at your business. If you are like me, this will probably be done over a bottle of wine and yummy meal. Write out all the highs, the lows and what you would like to achieve in the next twelve months.
And then in twelve months’ time you will see just how far you’ve come. Celebrate the small wins, because in business it’s the sum of these small wins that add up to big wins overall.
