![]() Today’s post is a little less an industry post and more a post about doing what you are passionate about, what you can love doing every day of your life. In my line of work I meet a tapestry of people from different backgrounds, many of whom are so very passionate about what they do for a living. They have a love/ sometimes hate relationship with their restaurants, pubs, and venues no matter how big or small these places are, but my clients love what they do. BK Agency was started because I love what I do. I love being able to help venues to make tangible changes in their businesses, working with passionate people every day, and seeing them achieve real results. It’s true what they say that if you find something you love you will never work a day in your life. Talking to passionate business owners who care about tourism in their local area and regional matters, or hospitality professionals who just love to make a great coffee to start someone else’s day the right way really warms my cockles. It keeps me motivated and urges me to over deliver for my clients so I can see them succeed. The thing I love about hospitality businesses is that at the very core of what they do they are trying to make someone else’s life better. Their aim is to provide an experience, something that they know you will enjoy, and often a lot of love is put in to their product whether it be a coffee, pasta cooked with thought and care, or wine they have sourced from a local wine producer, they want to give love through their offering. I’m a huge advocate for absolutely loving what you do. Life is far too short for you to do anything but, and in the words of the late great Steve Jobs, “You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle…” So, remember you always have a choice, a choice to follow your dreams, to open your own venue, to spend more time with your children, or to travel the world. Whatever makes you happy, you should do it. And do it now. And next time someone makes you a coffee made with love, give them a hearty thank you and a smile. You will make their day. KB
